Theodoros M. Tsapanos , was born in Florina in 1957.

He graduated from Geological Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1979 and obtained his Ph.D. (Contribution to the Seismicity of the Earth) from the same University in 1985.

He was research assistant (1980-1985), lecturer (1986-1991), assistant professor (1991- 1997) and associate professor (1997 - present), in the Geophysical Laboratory of the same University.

During 1988 - 1989 he was for post-doctoral studies in the University of Edinbourgh, Scotland, U.K. During his staying in U.K. he became a research fellow in the University of Edinbourgh and fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.

His research interest include seismic hazard and seismic risk, global seismicity, aftershock sequences (local and global), earthquake prediction and statistics in seismology.
