Professor Panagiotis Tsourlos holds a degree in Geology (1991) from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a PhD in Geophysics (1995) from the University of York (U.K.). He worked as a geophysical consultant until 2000 when he joined the Department of Geophysics in the School of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he is currently a full Professor of Applied Geophysics. His main research field is the numerical modeling and inversion of geoelectrical data. His research interest is in the application of geophysical techniques in near surface geophysical problems. He teaches several courses in the graduate and undergraduate program of the Department of Geology and he has supervised several Doctoral and M.Sc. theses.
He is the author of more than 120 journal and proceedings publications. Recipient of the University of York “K.M. Stott” prize for distinguished postgraduate research work, best paper awards in NSG 2008,2012. In 2011 he was a Korean Federation of Science and Technology “Brainpool” program grandee and in 2014 he received a visiting Professor scholarship from the University of Western Ontario (Canada).Since 2011 he is an Associate Editor for Geolectrics in EAGE NearSurface Geophysics Journal.
